Genetic Stocks

Genetic stocks are focused on one or a limited number of defined variations.

This can include:

  1. an allele of a specific gene.
  2. a combination of mutations that give a unique phenotype.
  3. a series of mutant alleles of genetically linked genes.
  4. a variant cytoplasmic trait.
  5. a chromosomal aberration (e.g., translocation or inversion).
  6. an aneuploid, or
  7. a tetraploid.

The background of the stock is usually only important when it affects the expression of a mutant phenotype. Our collection is comprised of maize genetic stocks. Our collection does not include maize inbred lines nor other Zea germplasm.
